  • Regarding Buff Application Rules, and a Small Event Teaser

Hello, this is Director Lee Jong-joo.

The content discussed in this post should ideally be explained thoroughly in-game, but since that hasn't been the case, I want to start by apologizing for having to address it here in the Director's Notes. We will make sure that the relevant explanations are included in the game at a later time (it feels like I'm saying "later" too often these days, sorry 😅).

Let me explain how buff application rules work.

    Buffs are categorized as follows:
    - Main (Sub) Skills
    - Passive Skills
    - Tools
    - Adventurer Skill
    - Accessory Crafting
    - Knowledge
    - Synergy

Buffs follow the rule that the highest value within the same category is applied.

Let me explain with an example.

If Hero A uses a main skill that increases attack power by 10%, and Hero B uses a sub-skill that increases attack power by 5%, only the 10% buff will apply since they fall under the same category (Main/Sub Skills).
However, if Hero A uses a main skill that increases attack power by 10%, and Hero B has a passive skill that increases attack power by 5%, both buffs will apply for a total of 15% since they are from different categories.

Even when buffs are the same, if they belong to different categories, they will stack, affecting the final damage.

Damage-related buffs work similarly but are currently not functioning as intended. This will be fixed in the next patch.

If you have an accessory with the options [Increase dealt damage by 5%] and [Increase magic damage by 8%], only the higher value (8%) will apply to magic damage, while the 5% will apply to physical damage.

    For example:
    - If Fatima’s basic attack (physical damage) deals 100 damage, with the buff, it becomes 105 (5% increase).
    - If Fatima’s sub-skill (magic damage) deals 300 damage, it becomes 324 (8% increase).

    Origin Weapons

Origin weapons enhance or add to the main or passive skills, thus inheriting their categories.

For instance, if Hero A has a passive skill that increases critical hit rate by 10%, and they equip a Lucky Ring that also increases critical hit rate by 10%, only one 10% increase will apply because they are both passive skills.

Rachel's weapon, Cantabile (which reduces physical resistance when basic attacks hit), functions as a passive skill. If another hero with a similar passive is used alongside her, only the higher value will apply.
Regarding the Origin Weapon Enhancement system, I initially intended to cover it here, but it seems better explained in-game. We will add more in-game guides to clarify this system.

Before I go, let me drop a small hint about the upcoming event.

The NPC standing next to Gueld is my in-game alter ego (during streams, I often talk about bread, so I’ve turned into bread!). The event map to be revealed tomorrow has a labyrinth concept because what's Legend of Heroes without a maze?

    That’s all for now!
